Probate

When someone dies, you are usually required to apply for probate. Probate gives you the legal right to deal with someone’s property, money and possessions (their ‘Estate’) after their death.

As part of the application for probate, you are required to value the estate and prepare an Inheritance Tax Account. If inheritance tax is due, this will need to be paid.
